ACTHNA was asked to participate on the medical panel for the College Forward Program orientation class held at Southwestern University in Georgetown this Saturday. Two hundred eleven jr. high students form eleven high schools RSVP’d, however over 300 students attended.
College Forward provides college access and college persistence services to motivated, economically disadvantaged students, in order to facilitate their transition to college and make the process exciting and rewarding.
This was a wonderful experience. Members of the Medical Panel: Pediatric Dentist, Dentist, Physical Therapist, EMS Captain, Nurse, Internal Medicine, Pediatrician. We had a full room with well over150 junior high school students that are interested in these pathways. Afterwards we broke into groups and the students were able to ask more questions about their specific interest. I am happy to report that nursing was very popular. I gave the students our website information and invited them to join us at some of our outreach activities.
What a heart-warming experience!
